New Website Technician Joins InsideOut Team

June 3rd, 2009 by

Corey Edwards has recently joined InsideOut as a Website Technician. He will be working in our updates department and with member support for our B&B Association clients.

Corey has worked in computer aided graphic design since the mid 1990s. He has been involved in web design since 2001, creating sites for a variety of artists and craftsmen, among other subjects. Initially self-taught, in 2006 he went to Peninsula College to obtain an AAS degree in multimedia and graphic design; this netted him the position of Creative Director for Northwest magazine, where he stayed until late 2008.

In his spare time Corey enjoys writing, reading, music – both collecting and playing – creating perplexing and humorous graphics on his computer, and, best of all, spending time with his 14 year old daughter. They have lived on the Olympic Peninsula since 1999.

InsideOut Sponsers Local Soccer Team

October 31st, 2008 by

“Wait, Charlie! You can’t use your hands in soccer!”

“Hey Charlie – don’t pick the dandelions! Keep your eye on the ball! No, no, don’t lay down! Oh, Charlie!”

That’s about how it sounds at a 3 to 6 year-old soccer game. The game mainly consists of a lot of running (hopefully in the right direction), tripping over each other in excitement, trying to remember which way your goal is, and of course totally losing focus in favor of picking flowers or laying down on the grass for a while.

But that is all part of the fun of coaching a team of tots playing “the beautiful game”. Even Pele was a 3-year-old, once. The head of our web department, Jeff Logan, coached these 3 to 6 year-olds this year, including his son Charlie. The team was sponsored by InsideOut.

They had a lot of fun, started to learn the basics of the game of soccer (dribbling, passing, shooting goals, making daisy chains) and most important, how to work as a team. We are happy to support a constructive past time for youths and feel these kind of organizations are important for a healthy community.

InsideOut Solutions has always been committed to the locality in which we reside – we have done pro bono marketing and print projects for some of the community organizations here on the Olympic Peninsula, like the Boys and Girls club and the Irrigation Festival. Sponsoring a youth soccer team is a great way to give back – and fun to boot!

Office Expansion

September 16th, 2008 by

A little tardy, I admit, but I thought I’d let you know that we expanded our office in May. In anticipation of the new employees and new business we were taking on, we needed more desk space. At first, we were thinking we’d just make the newbies work in the garage…but it was kind of drafty in there!

We remodeled the garage where I am currently sitting and made it into the new office. Along with expanding our server room, we installed new wiring throughout and upgraded our phone and alarm system. We had a small army of electricians in here to make sure everything was perfect!

One More New Face!!

September 11th, 2008 by

How could we forget to mention the fix-it queen, Miss Kailey Lampert? Kailey is also a new face here at InsideOut, although she was here ahead of Lisa and myself. In fact, she’s such a natural, I figured she was an old hand in our business!

One of our fabulous Web Technicians here at InsideOut Solutions! Kailey joined InsideOut nearly three months ago.

Kailey was born in California’s Bay Area and she lived there until 1999 when she moved up to Port Angeles, Washington with her family. Although the youngest of three by nearly 5 years, she feels more like a big sister than an aunt to her 5 year old (as of this post) nephew.

Kailey can’t remember a time when her home was without a computer (and today it has six) so she quickly became fascinated with all they can do, and after a brief lesson on HTML in seventh grade, she came to have a deep interest in web-development. However, at the time, she didn’t really get it, so after graduating from Port Angeles High School, she took two years of geek classes at the local community college and figured out everything she was doing wrong. Since then, she has taught herself even more and continues to expand on her understanding of web-building languages.

When she’s not glued to her desk, she does enjoy traveling to wherever so that she can grow her playing card collection, which is currently somewhere around 230 complete decks.

New Employees!

September 10th, 2008 by

Insideout is growing! That’s right, in the last 60 days, two new young ladies have joined the Insideout team!

Lisa Lidback, Web Technician, the newest face at Insideout!

Lisa Lidback, Web Technician, the newest face at Insideout!

The first is Lisa Lidback, our new Web Technician. Lisa has always loved travel; her Dad being in the Coast Guard, she grew up moving from coast to coast. Her family settled in Port Angeles, where she was home schooled through high school and earned an Associate of Arts and an AAS in Multimedia Communications degree from Peninsula College.
Lisa’s passions are dance and photography. She has performed in over 6 ballet productions and has taught classes at the Ballet Workshop. Lisa also loves swing and ballroom dancing, whenever the opportunity presents itself. Lisa’s ambition is to be a wedding photographer, and would love to spend a year or so traveling Europe as a photojournalist.

The second is myself, Katie Pate. But because it’s a little funny to write a bio in first person, I’ll just post it here the old-fashioned-way:

Katie Pate, Promotions Specialist

Katie Pate, Promotions Specialist

Katie is a published writer with a BA in Media Studies and English from Scripps College in Claremont, CA. After finishing school, Katie traveled to Belize, Central America to volunteer the with the National AIDS Commission of Belize, where she was a personal health counselor and helped the Commission to create a community resources guide, a national television ad and wrote for Commission in local papers. She also managed a local band and became a dancehall queen during her stay in beautiful Belize.

When Katie returned to the United States, she came to live with her family in Washington State. In November 2007 she participated in a 9-week internship for the Sequim Gazette, which lead to a profitable free-lance position at the paper.

Now at Insideout Solutions, Katie is excited to learn as much as she can about the growing field of Search Engine Optimization, and explore new and fascinating ways to use her writing skills.

New Firewall = 40% faster page loads

August 8th, 2008 by
Firebox Firewall

We recently installed a new Watchguard Firebox Firewall in front of our servers to combat spam and make our servers even more secure. While the new Firewall has accomplished these tasks, all of our sites are now loading 40% faster then before. What a difference a Firewall can make! I highly recomend Watchguard products which have their main office located here in Washington State.
